Animal Adoptions
Choose one of the zoo species options to adopt at any of the levels. Animal adoptions are a symbolic way to defray the costs of animal care for our nonprofit 501(c)3 zoo. Adoptions make perfect holiday gifts too! We appreciate your support of our mission to help wildlife in need while providing community education programs.

Adoption Animal of the Month
Moose Calves
Our June Adoption of the Month features the orphan moose calves! Each spring the Alaska Zoo, in partnership with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, takes in injured and orphaned moose calves from around the state. As of June 1st, the zoo has 4 calves in our care from Susitna, Knik River, and the Anchorage area. Our Zookeepers work incredibly hard to give these babies the best care, before they go on to their forever homes at zoos and sanctuaries around the United States.
When you visit this summer you can see the moose calves in the infirmary yard, and once they are big enough, they will be moved to the calf yard (across from the new muskox trail). If you choose moose calves as your adopted animal in June, you can choose a moose plush ($100 adoption or more) and will receive a special video by one of their keepers of a calf feeding! This is a great way to support The Alaska Zoo and all the orphan animals we care for each summer. And remember that adoptions make great birthday or special occasion gifts for the animal lovers in your life!
