The mission of The American Association of Zoo Keepers is to advance excellence in the animal keeping profession, foster communication beneficial to animal care, support conservation projects, and promote the preservation of our natural resources and animal life.

midnight sun aazk chapter, alaska

The Midnight Sun AAZK Chapter was established in 2010 and is made up of zookeepers, staff, docents and volunteers dedicated to professional animal care and conservation. Although not officially part of the Alaska Zoo, the Midnight Sun AAZK activities and efforts are fully endorsed.

This annual brewfest is a fundraiser for conservation efforts by the Midnight Sun AAZK. The event is held each May with beer, food, a silent auction and bear visits. 21 and older event.

zookeeper games

New in fall 2017, look for this event to become an annual affair. Visitors participate in games to test zookeeping skills.

Who can join:

Anyone interested in helping to raise funds for ongoing conservation and research projects! You don't need to be a zookeeper - membership is open to all people from all backgrounds.
