Memorial and Planned Giving Programs
Leave a lasting mark at the zoo on behalf of yourself, a loved one, a dear friend or a beloved pet.
If you've ever wanted to express your appreciation for the Alaska Zoo, a gift in your estate plan could be the perfect option for you. Whether you make a gift today or after your lifetime, you will help to provide lasting experiences that inspire people and motivate them to care for the natural world. With a little planning today, your impact can be felt for generations to come.
pet memorial program
Our Pet Memorial Program is dedicated to serving the companion animal community throughout Alaska. Donations are made on behalf of a pet that has passed and proceeds are used to enhance veterinary care for the zoo's animals. Your donation will remain solely with the Alaska Zoo and will help defray costs of our animal care.
When you donate $100 to this program, we will make a personalized tag in your pet's name. The tag will be displayed on our Pet Memorial Board on zoo grounds for one year, located across from the Sitka black-tailed deer habitat. You will receive a poem in the mail as a keepsake and reminder of our sympathy for your loss.
MEMORIAL BOARD PLAQUE: Create a lasting memorial for loved ones at the Alaska Zoo. Honor loved ones by adding their name to our memorial name plaque board located across from the great horned owl habitat. For a tax deductible donation of $250, you can add the name of your loved one to the memorial plaque.
MEMORIAL BENCHES ON ZOO GROUNDS: Our memorial benches allow visitors a way to relax and enjoy the zoo scenery while viewing the memorial plaque for your loved one. For a $1,000 donation, you can commemorate a special event or provide a lasting memorial on one of our benches. Your special message will be engraved on a plaque and placed on the upper bench area. Benches are available in many locations around the zoo.
