Feline Frenzy Event

Saturday, September 12th from Noon-4pm at the Alaska Zoo

Join us for an afternoon of celebrating the three feline species at the Alaska Zoo: Amur tiger, snow leopard and lynx! While we are sharing the love, we will also celebrate the hard work of our cat keepers and those in Alaska’s cat rescue community. This event will feature feline fun with an an educational scavenger hunt, talks by cat zookeepers, enrichment for zoo cats, a photo booth, BioGlitter booth, cat rescue group booths, shopping in our gift shop and food/drinks for purchase in the Kape Espresso Tayo Zoo Coffee Shop and at the Alaska’s Best Gourmet Dogs food truck.

Visit our welcome booth inside the zoo entrance to touch and feel cat biofacts from our education collection and pick up your scavenger hunt sheet. Then swing back by at the end of your visit to drop off your completed scavenger hunt and pick up a small prize!

Additional details:

• Cat food & cat item donation drive – drop off food, cat toys, food bowls, litter bags, etc. in the totes located at the welcome table. These items will go to cat rescue groups. If you are interested in dropping off items for zoo cat enrichment, think about items like whipped cream, perfumes and catnip.

• Alaska’s Best Gourmet Dogs food truck (Discovery Center area).

• BioGlitter booth (Coffee Shop Greenhouse, price range is $5-$20 for designs). 

• Photo booth (Coffee Shop Greenhouse, price range is $5-$20). 

• Cat rescue booths near the Greenhouse, Great Horned Owl and Discovery Center. 

• Cat-themed scavenger hunt with clues by each booth and vendor. Prizes may be claimed at the welcome booth.

• Enrichment and talks: 12:30pm snow leopard enrichment and 1pm snow leopard talk, 1:30pm lynx enrichment and 2pm lynx talk, 2:30pm Amur tiger enrichment and 3pm Amur tiger talk. 

• 1pm-3pm: Petting Zoo
