Zoo Lights season and Christmas for the Animals coming soon!

We are very excited for winter at the Alaska Zoo. Yes, it is a little cold and a little dark - but life goes on for Alaskans!

We celebrate winter by lighting up the night with Zoo Lights, a dazzling display of zoo-wide custom lights. Join us on November 24th from 5-8pm for the kick-off. We will light up your Black Friday!

We have animated lights, lights set to music, animal-themed lights, light canopies of the trails, trees dripping with thousands of lights. You won't believe your eyes and you will want to bring your camera (and tripod if you have one). Bring your little ones on a wagon or sled...or bring your special someone for a date night. The Gift Shop and Coffee Shop are open on these nights. Advance ticket sales are open, see the link on our event pages. Just go to our Calendar of Events and click on any Zoo Lights date to see the full schedule and details.

In addition to Zoo Lights, we have Christmas for the Animals coming up on December 10th from 3-6pm. This is a ZOO-MEMBERS-FREE event, with our annual members getting access to the zoo and event and Zoo Lights at no charge on this evening. Non-members pay general admission rates before 5pm, non-member Zoo Lights rates of $8/person (ages 2 and under free). So the point of the story...BUY OR RENEW YOUR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP ONLINE TODAY! THEY ALSO MAKE AWESOME GIFTS!

Visit our Christmas for the Animals page by clicking on December 10th on the Calendar of Events. Visitors bring food donations for the animals from our list of suggestions and they stuff the stockings which will be hung at all of the animal habitats. Load your donations on a sled or in a wagon and bring them around the trails. Volunteers and staff will be picking them up throughout the event. We are also proud to have Kaladi Brothers Coffee sponsor free cocoa and coffee during the event.

We will see YOU at the ZOO!
