New Amur Tigers In View Now!

(6/29/08) We have received two new Amur tigers which arrived from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, New York.  They are brothers, named Korol and Kunali (photo at left), both born on June 7, 2004 at the NY-area zoo.  The brothers are in our large tiger enclosure now daily.  Join us in welcoming these amazing cats to our zoo family!

New Baby Arrivals at the Zoo!

(5/24/08) We have new baby arrivals at the zoo!  Our female musk ox gave birth to a healthy calf on Friday, May 23.  She and the calf are doing great and can be viewed in our main musk ox pen.  We also received a new moose calf late on Friday, May 23.  The calf was found abandoned by it's mother in a horse barn near North Pole, AK.  We later received another moose calf who had been seen orphaned in the Anchorage area.  The two calves are now on display in the old elephant paddock at the back of the zoo.  We also received an orphaned mountain goat which was observed by a tour boat captain without her mother.  She is currently on view in our new orphaned animal facility, located between the old black bear exhibit and the wolves.

Knobby the Camel is on Public Display

(5/22/08) Our new 9-month-old Bactrian camel Knobby 2 is now out in public view in the side yard next to the main camel area.  He is separated from our 15-year-old female Tula unless zookeepers are available for supervision.  He is also getting used to his halter and leash training, so he will hopefully go for walks on zoo grounds soon!
